What is Innocentism style of Art?

Innocentism is an artistic style that emerged as a reaction to contemporary art movements, emphasizing purity, simplicity, and a return to innocence in expression. Here’s a detailed overview of its origins and key characteristics:

Origins of Innocentism

Cultural Context: Innocentism arose in the late 20th to early 21st century, during a period marked by rapid changes in technology, society, and art. Artists sought a counter-narrative to the complexity and often chaotic nature of modern art.

Philosophical Influences: The style draws inspiration from philosophies that advocate for simplicity and authenticity, often influenced by movements like Romanticism, which emphasized emotional depth and a connection to nature.

Artist Community: A group of artists began to explore themes of childhood, nostalgia, and the innate purity of human experience, often through whimsical or dream-like imagery.

Key Characteristics of Innocentism

1.  Simplicity :

   - Focus on uncomplicated forms and structures that evoke a sense of clarity and innocence.

2.  Bright, Playful Color Palette:

   - Use of vibrant, cheerful colors to create an uplifting atmosphere, reminiscent of childhood.

3.  Childlike Themes:

   - Incorporation of themes that reflect innocence, such as nature, fantasy, and whimsical characters.

4.  Emotional Depth:

   - While the style appears simple, it often conveys profound emotional and philosophical messages about life, memory, and human experience.

5. Organic Forms:

   - Preference for natural shapes and forms, often inspired by the environment, animals, and human figures in a non-representational way.

6. Mixed Media:

   - Use of various materials and techniques to create texture and depth, reflecting the complexity of innocence in a tangible form.

7.  Narrative Elements:

   - Works often tell a story or convey a message, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork on a deeper level.

Innocentism celebrates the beauty of simplicity and the purity of expression, making it a unique and heartfelt contribution to the contemporary art landscape.

The “Must Have” Paintings of the Elites of the 21st Century: Helenna Jouja

One of my favorite paintings

„The Bathers“ by Helenna Jouja

„The Bathers“ 150x100cm acrylic on canvas

At the heart of „The Bathers" lies a poignant narrative intertwining the beauty of nature with the realities of a changing world. Inspired by the volcanic eruption in the Philippines and the global pandemic, this artwork captures a moment of joy and defiance amidst adversity.

In this vibrant scene, one female figure playfully holds a mask, integrating it into her bikini. This bold statement symbolizes the duality of life during the pandemic: masks became a necessity, reflecting our resilience and adaptability. Her carefree spirit contrasts with the somber reality outside, showcasing an unyielding pursuit of happiness and connection.

The vivid mountains in the background represent the natural forces that disrupt our lives while also providing beauty and solace. As the characters engage in playful activities, they embody community spirit, demonstrating that joy and companionship can thrive even in adversity.

This painting invites viewers to celebrate life—not just despite challenges but because of them—illustrating how we weave our experiences into a tapestry of resilience and hope. **"The Bathers"** is a compelling piece that will impress any guest with its rich narrative and vibrant imagery.

Description

My painting, **"The Bathers,"** depicts a lively gathering of figures immersed in nature, set against bold, colorful mountains and a serene water body. The use of acrylic on canvas creates rich, saturated colors that evoke warmth and joy.

In this scene, a diverse group enjoys the sun-drenched landscape. Each figure, with distinct features and expressions, engages in various activities—splashing in water, conversing, or contemplating. The flowing water reflects the vibrant hues of the environment, creating harmony between people and nature.

The exaggerated colors of the background mountains suggest a dreamlike quality, enhancing the painting's whimsical tone. Lush greenery and tropical flora invite viewers to step into this idyllic world, a serene escape from reality.

Short Story

Once upon a time, in a hidden valley where mountains kissed the sky, a group of friends discovered a magical oasis. Drawn by the shimmering waters, they gathered to celebrate life and friendship. Laughter echoed as they splashed and danced, their spirits bright against the vibrant colors surrounding them.

Each figure in this tapestry represents a story—of joy, freedom, and the simple pleasures of being alive. The ancient mountains watched over them, holding secrets of the past while witnessing the beauty of the present. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow, they knew they had found a piece of paradise that would live on in their hearts forever.

This painting serves as a reminder to cherish fleeting moments of bliss and the connections we share with nature and each other.

Kunstraum Art Gallery Owner Hubert Thurnhofer

Painted by Helenna Jouja

120x80 cm acyllic painting.  One of my paintings, that had had thousands of Likes on Facebook, is the portrait of my art gallerist, Hubert Thurnhofer.  Behind him is a painting with golden frame to illustrate him being a gallerist. Inside the painting of the painting is a nude woman sitting and waiting at the entrance door of Love, which entrance free is waived for those women in love. Below the golden frame, beside Thurnhofer‘s dark blue jeans, is an illustration of balancing stones, which he designed during his trip to Croatia in 2018. Aside from being a stone balance artist during his spare time, Thurnhofer is also the author of published German books such as Moral 4,0, which he holds in this painting.  My gallerist speaks in English, German and Russian fluently.  Feel free to contact him, if you are interested to see or buy any of my paintings or his books.
