I am thrilled to share with you my latest watercolor painting on paper, entitled "The Pot Carrier." This marks my second attempt at watercolor, and I am elated to share that I have overcome the challenges I faced in my first experiment. The paper held up much better this time, and I was able to achieve my desired effect without any issues. What's fascinating is that I began this painting in Steiermark and finished it in Croatia, making it a journey for both me and the artwork.
In this painting, I have depicted a woman carrying a pot with flowers forming a bow. It's actually a self-portrait of me, and it seems like I'm wearing the flowers in my hair, reminiscent of Tahitian culture. However, the flowers are just in the pot. I poured my heart and soul into this painting, and I am excited to share it with you. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
As an aspiring artist, my aim is to delve into the techniques of art's old masters, while simultaneously cultivating my own unique style. I firmly believe that true artistic expression can only be achieved by relying on one's innate abilities and imagination, rather than on external sources like art instructors or online tutorials. My ultimate goal is to learn to use art materials in my own way, exploring their numerous capabilities through my own experimentation.
My first attempt at watercolor painting was both challenging and rewarding. Initially, I was disappointed with the color outcomes I achieved with my materials. However, I persevered and experimented with thinning the watercolor, until I was able to achieve my desired effect. As I worked, the paper became increasingly delicate, almost like a silk carpet, with colors visible from both sides. This created a beautiful effect that inspired me to keep going.
Despite facing setbacks, I remained determined to repair the painting without any external help. Through this experience, I discovered that relying on my intuition and common sense was the key to success. The process of trial and error reminded me of the joy of learning and experimenting, similar to a child discovering the capabilities of a new cell phone. This experience taught me that the journey of creating art is just as important as the final product, and that it is essential to trust in one's abilities and embrace the creative process.
However, I only work with watercolor when I'm away from my studio in Vienna because it's more convenient to carry the necessary art materials. I typically use watercolor during my spare time, when I have a few moments to relax and let my creativity flow.
Behold my beautiful first artwork crafted with precision and skill using nothing but watercolor and a delicate, thin sheet of paper. I am thrilled to present it to you and hope that it brings you joy and appreciation for the art form.
What’s on the Horse’s Mind?
What's on the horse's mind, you ask?
Perhaps it's running free in an open grass,
Or the sweet scent of hay in the stable,
Or the sound of hooves on a dirt table.
Maybe it's the feel of a gentle hand,
Or the warmth of the sun on the land,
Or the soft nuzzle of a friend,
Or the thrill of a ride that doesn't end.
What's on the horse's mind, you see,
Is a mystery, like the depths of the sea,
But one thing we can surely know,
Is that in their heart, a love does grow.
For the horse is a noble creature,
A symbol of strength, grace, and feature,
And whatever's on their mind,
They'll always be a friend to find.
